In the spirit of improving communities across the Bay Area, we have compiled the following list of other funders whose grant making priorities cross a broad spectrum. We welcome you to share updates on the funders listed below and/or provide the name of additional funders. The funders can be sorted by focus area(s), please refer to the specific funder’s website for the most up to date information.
The California Wellness Foundation supports organizations working to increase access to health care, quality education, good jobs, and clean and safe neighborhoods across our state.
The Carl Gellert and Celia Berta Gellert Foundation's policy is to promote exclusively religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes restricted to local giving in the nine counties of the greater San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma).
The Clorox Company Foundation’s mission is to foster healthy and inclusive communities so people can be well and thrive. The Foundation provides grants in the following program areas: racial justice, youth development/education, sustainability, disease prevention, and disaster relief and preparedness.
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation's mission is to improve the lives of children, families, and communities--and to restore and protect our planet.
The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation is dedicated to advancing groundbreaking applied science with real-world benefits for all humanity. The Foundation is an incubator of innovation through its prestigious fellowship program supporting our nation’s most promising young scientists, engineers and mathematicians. Hertz Fellowship applications open in the Fall each year.
The James Irvine Foundation's singular goal is to have a California where all low-income workers have the power to advance economically. The Foundation invests in leaders and organizations that can address the daunting situation our state faces (before the fallout of COVID-19 and as we work to rebuild after it). They are not accepting unsolicited inquiries for their initiatives or current grantmaking.
The Joseph & Mercedes McMicking Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life, primarily to benefit San Francisco Bay Area residents through contributions, grants and scholarships for the education and welfare of children and their families. Organizations seeking information should direct inquiries by mailing a letter and application to the Executive Director, Miriam deQuadros.
The Olympic Club Foundation supports and encourages participation of Bay Area youth in amateur athletics. Their singular mission is to financially support programs, which share the belief that participation in organized athletics enriches young lives and develops future community leaders.
The Safeway Foundation works hand in hand with local nonprofit organizations to strengthen local neighborhoods and change lives. All donation and grant requests in California, Northern Nevada and Hawaii require an employee sponsor who is willing to vouch for the work of your organization.
The San Francisco Education Fund harnesses the power of the local community to give public school students, particularly those from underserved communities, the support they need to succeed. The San Francisco Education Fund does this by providing volunteers, educator grants, scholarships and school-company partnerships.
The Stanley S. Langendorf Foundation funds organizations that directly benefit and serve community & social services, youth, primary & secondary education, and the arts in San Francisco County and the City of San Francisco.
The Verizon Foundation's funding priorities are Digital Inclusion, Climate Protection, and Human Prosperity. New applications are by invitation only.
