My favorite childhood book that I read over (and over and over and over) was: Matilda by Roald Dahl. I loved Matilda’s quick wit, and strong desire to do what was right despite the poor character of many adults in her life.

My hope for Oakland students is: that each student will be provided with the tools and support they need to develop and pursue their passions.

Kate joined our team in July of 2019. As the Foundation’s Program Associate, Kate supports the Foundation’s program operations, strategic communications, grants management, and facility functions. Prior to joining the Foundation, Kate spent two years as a middle-school science teacher, first in Fort Worth, Texas, and most recently in Oakland with Aspire Public Schools. Kate earned a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (4-8 Grade Science Education) from the University of North Texas, and a M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership from TCU, where she served as the Tutorial Coordinator for the university’s Athletic Academic Services Office. She currently lives in Oakland.
